Gerald: Carine (Bae) and I met in 2001 at Longla Comprehensive College (LCC) Mankon Bamenda through her cousin (Chefor Elvis) who was one of my best friends on campus. Bae was very smart and very beautiful. Worthy to mention that she was the one leading Longla during 11th February and 20th May march celebrations and so was known by most LCC students. I always admired her and felt she needed all the guidance and protection needed as a younger sister because I saw her as such. During lunch or dinner time, she will always share food spices with me and Chefor. On May 20th, 2003 Bae went out for the 20th May celebration. Upon her return, she was attacked by some street guys late at night. By God's grace I was there to intervene. I stopped the attack and these folks ran away after my intervention. Didn't see her again until a few weeks later when it was the last day of school.
Fast forward to May 2011, I met Bae after 8 years and we started communicating. We started talking and we discovered we were spending more time together. Gradually we noticed we were in love. So I asked her out and YES, she accepted. Months later, I proposed to her. On March 15th, 2012 we had our traditional wedding at their family compound in Awing village and also at the Awing palace in the presence of HRH Fon of Awing. On December 29th, 2012 we had our civil union celebration at the Douala IX council. Ever since we have been living our happy lives. She's been my helper as defined by the scriptures.
Carine: I met Gerald at Longla Comprehensive College (LCC) Mankon, Bamenda in 2001. Gerald was three class ahead of me. He was a good friend to my cousin, Chefor Elvis. He was and still is very smart and intelligent ,i admired him so much. I will always hear his female classmates talk much about their admiration for him while in the female dormitory.
Each time I met Gerald with my cousin and his friends, he always was lecturing on History and Economics. I knew Gerald as someone who loves to lead. He was also the person who will always participate in educational debates. The best i will like to share about our story is on May 20th, 2003 Gerald saved me from being attacked by hoodlums . He was there at the right time when I almost got raped.,he made sure I got back to my dormitory safe. God used him to rescue me and I will never forget that day. The last time I saw him was in June, 2003 when school had closed and everyone was heading back home. At the time i was based in Bamenda and him , Buea. I never set my eyes on him again until years later.
Fast forward to 2011. On May 2011, we reconnected after so many years. We started talking and slowly fell in love. As God blessed, he proposed to me and I accepted on December 22nd, 2011. He flew to Cameroon and we did our traditional wedding. Nine months later, he came back to Cameroon for our civil union. Ever since we've been living together God has been faithful to us as a family. I want to use this opportunity to thank God for giving me such a wonderful and loving man.
Reception will be from 4:00pm till dawn.
